Andrew Nolte and His Orchestra

Andrew Nolte and His Orchestra

This rip-roaring syncopating eight-piece band from Melbourne is one of the very few bands of its type in existence today. These highly skilled artists, under the leadership of clarinettist/saxophonist, Andrew Nolte, strive to give audiences everywhere the ultimate musical step back in time! Their dance repertoire is strictly 1920's, playing original arrangements and scores ranging from Charlestons, Shimmies, Fox-Trots, One-Steps, Two-Steps, Ballads and Hot Novelty music! All are attired in fine authentic 1920's evening wear and have a host of vintage instruments and equipment. The main emphasis of the band is to rekindle the spirit of the 1920's by playing its hit-tunes with not only the same expertise, but with the same vitality and vigour as heard on record or radio. From breakneck speed hot-jazz to bizarre novelty tunes, Nolte and his boys give each song a polished and well rehearsed performance. The instrumentation for the group, which gives this music its lilt, drive and pep includes the use of trumpet and trombone, 3 saxophones, banjo, sousaphone and drums.
Minutes into the opening numbers you will feel transported back to Melbourne in 1926; beside the wireless, a gramophone or upon a smokey dancefloor in a Hotel ballroom.
