The name Simplicity reflects the simple swinging repertoire of the band. It was formed in 2005 to play jazz festivals and after a great response from audiences at the Inverloch Jazz Festivals in 2005 and 2006, the musicians decided to play together permanently.

Simplicity's repertoire is what makes it stand out from other bands – standard, but different tunes, all swinging, melodic jazz, featuring songs by such artists as Nina Simone, Madeleine Peyroux, Ella Fitzgerald,Diana Krall, Carmen McRae, Etta James and Ernestine Anderson.
